Apple refined the software, particularly version 3.1, made Aperture much easier to use for first-timers and those stepping up from iPhoto. In fact, Aperture 3.1 borrows some features—like face recognition and geotagging—from the consumer program and amps them up for Aperture, simplifying the step-up transition from one to the other.
