This junior image processor certainly won't tempt anybody away from using Photoshop, which we recommend for professional image processing, but if you don't own Photoshop, this free program will let you view, convert and manipulate pictures! Even if you own Photoshop, BME is so much smaller than Photoshop that it's often faster for viewing and converting pictures.
Compatibility:
BME requires a Macintosh or PowerMacintosh with at least 4MB of application RAM. You need a 68030 or better processor—PowerPC processors are recommended. System 7.1 or newer is required.
PowerMacintosh Users: You should always enable the Modern Memory Manager with the Memory control panel. BME will work much faster with this option selected. Only a few old programs such as games require that this option be deselected.
System 7.5.5: If you are using a version of MacOS older than System 7.5.5, BME will be slow to quit because older versions of MacOS close shared libraries very slowly.
